VFW Auxiliary news: Helping students learn about the American flag in Brookings

The St. Thomas More Catholic School fourth graders, left, were presented an American flag for their classroom. In keeping with the education and etiquette of our flag, the George Dokken VFW No. 2118 Auxiliary presented the flag to the students and their teacher for their room. Presenting the flag to the class were: Wanda Mix, VFW Auxiliary president; and Jan Olson, chairman for the VFW Auxiliary Americanism Program.

Recently the students at Our Saviors Lutheran Church,right, were given a presentation of flag etiquette and how to correctly fold the American flag. The VFW Auxiliary Americanism chairman, Jan Olson, along with another auxiliary member and two post members presented the information for proper handling and folding of our flag as well as the history of our flag. At the end of the presentation the students were encouraged to learn how to fold the flag. The flag history and education presentation is available for anyone interested. The Our Saviors Lutheran students and teacher are shown with the Auxiliary and Post representatives.
