College women’s basketball: Jackrabbits fall to No. 21 Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. The South Dakota State women dropped to 6-5 on the season after falling to No. 21 Creighton 58-46 on Thursday night.

SDSU led 19-11 after the first quarter but was then outscored 18-4 in the second. Creighton (9-2) then extended its lead to 44-30 at the end of the third quarter. The Jacks would outscore the Blue Jays 16-14 in the final quarter but it was too little too late.

SDSU shot 39.6% from the field and was 2-of-6 for three. The Jacks were led by Brooklyn Meyer who had 12 points and seven rebounds. Tori Nelson had 10 points, five rebounds and six assists. Paige Meyer had seven points and eight rebounds.

Creighton shot 37.7% from the field and was 8-of-30 from three. The Blue Jays were led by Sioux Falls native Emma Ronsiek who had 19 points. seven blocks and six rebounds. Morgan Maly had 13 points and five rebounds. Molly Mogensen had seven points and eight rebounds.

The Jacks outrebounded the Blue Jays 38-33. SDSU had 17 turnovers and Creighton had six. The Blue Jays scored 12 points off of the SDSU turnovers. SDSU was 2-of-3 at the free throw line and Creighton was 4-of-5 at the charity stripe.

SDSU will open Summit League play next on New Years Eve. The Jacks will play at North Dakota at 12 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
