The Brookings Rangers hockey program saw plenty of action over the weekend as the Rangers hosted the Junior B Gold Tournament and scored plenty of goals on the road in this weeks Ranger Roundup.
BOYS JV
BROOKINGS The Rangers hosted the Junior Gold B Tournament at the Larson Ice Center from Dec. 15 through Dec. 17. Brookings won one of their four games at the tournament, picking up a win against Delano.
Grand Forks 7, Brookings 0
The Stallions scored once in the first period and broke the game open with four goals in the second period and two goals in the third period to defeat the Rangers on Friday afternoon.
Matthew Bothe started in goal for the Rangers and made 26 saves. The Rangers were out-shot 33-22.
Boji 5, Brookings 3
The Mammoths got on the board in the first period with a goal from Brayden Garvin but Brookings responded with Parker Nielsens goal from Waylon Carroll and Caleb Johnson in the second period.
Boji scored four times in the third period including back-to-back goals from Josh Wavra and Jake Jacobs to give the Mammoths a 4-2 lead. Andrew Hahn helped Brookings cut into the lead with a goal from Carroll and Masen Holen but the two teams exchanged goals with Aiden Hintermeister scoring for Boji and Nielsen scoring from Carroll and another assist before Wavra scored a goal in the final second for the final score.
Paxtyn Portoff made 14 saves and the Rangers out-shot Boji 41-17.
Brookings 4, Delano 0
The Rangers picked up their lone win of the tournament over Delano on Saturday afternoon.
Gavin Loy scored the first goal with anassist from Carroll in the first period and Holen doubled the lead with his goal from Tre Christopherson and Hahn in the second period.
Loy scored later in the second period from Christopherson to extend the lead and Holen scored his second goal of the game from Cooper Schneider to cap the scoring in the second period.
Bothe made 15 saves to earn the shutout and Brookings out-shot Delano 30-15.
Brookings 2, Fargo 2
The Rangers battled to a tie with the freeze in their final game of the tournament on Sunday morning.
Nielsen scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Christopherson in the first period and Holen scored on Christophersons second assist of the game to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead into the second intermission.
Kyler Frederick put Fargo on the board with an assist from Max Greco with 1:13 left in the third period and Ayden Anderson scored from Jared Richter and Trey Lies just before the final horn to earn the draw.
Pottorff made 24 saves in the tie and Brookings out-shot Fargo 34-26.
BANTAM A
Brookings 8, Huron 0
HURON The Rangers scored early and often to defeat the All-Stars at Bergman Arena on Friday night.
Jason Ready opened the scoring with assists from Mauer Bartley and Carson Kludt at 2:49 of the first period Kludt added a goal from Ready and Atwood Ahmann at 10:36 of the first period and Ethan Foerster scored from Ahmann and Isaac Andal to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead at the first intermission.
Jack Lovseth scored with an assist from Mason Diers at 5:31 of the second period to extend the lead and Ahmann scored from Lovseth at 7:15 of the second period to put Brookings up 5-0.
Kludt scored from Ready and Ahmann at 2:41 of the third period while Bartley scored with an assist from Ready at 7:15 of the third period and Diers scored from Nolan Krogman and Maxten Jensen at 13:41 of the third period to cap the scoring.
Neil Trygstad made four saves to earn the shutout. Brookings out-shot Huron 61-4. The Rangers went 1-for-2 on the power play while Huron did not have a power play.
GIRLS 14U
Brookings 3, Mitchell 1
MITCHELL The Rangers scored a pair of first period goals to lead them to a win over the Marlins at the Toshiba Arena on Friday night.
Emily Meyer scored an unassisted goal to put Brookings on the board at 5:00 of the first period and Audrey Andal scored an unassisted goal at 12:39 of the first period to put the Rangers up 2-0.
Livaya Mimmack scored an unassisted goal at 13:20 of the second period to help Mitchell cut the lead in half but Khloe Ziegeldorf scored from Brooke Kruse and Katie Vadersnick at 12:36 to help the Rangers earn the win.
Avery Dentlinger made 22 saves for the Rangers. Brookings out-shot the Marlins 25-23. Brookings went 0-for-3 on the power play while Mitchell went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
PEEWEE A
The Rangers scored a pair of wins on the road, defeating Brandon Valley and Watertown last weekend.
Brookings 7, Watertown 1
WATERTOWN Jasper Pitts opened the scoring for the Rangers with an assist from Graham Gerlach in the first period before Brookings opened the game up with three goals in the second period.
Coy Friedrich scored with an assist from Myles Anderson early in the second period and Thor Zell and Weston Diers scored back-to-back unassisted goals to put Brookings up 4-0 after two periods.
Zell added two more goals with a pair of assists coming from Kallen Serfling and another assist by Friedrich midway through the third period before Luke Luvaas scored from Friedrich to cap the scoring.
Brookings 9, Brandon Valley 0
BRANDON The Rangers opened the scoring when Oliver Ahmann scored on an assist by Diers in the first period. Diers scored from Jasper Pitts later in the first period and added another goal from Gerlach in the second period to give Brookings a 3-0 lead.
Serfling scored from Diers and Jager Jacobsma scored from Serfling to make it a 5-0 game before Diers scored from Jacobsma and Zwerber and Friedrich scored from Serfling to give Brookings a 7-0 lead after two periods.
Tegan Jensen scored two goals with an assist from Diers to cap the scoring.
Haufschild made five saves and Carroll made three saves to earn the shutout. Brookings out-shot Brandon Valley 28-8.

Brookings 9, Watertown 6
WATERTOWN The Rangers used five first period goals and four second period goals to defeat the Lakers on Friday night.
Emmett Berkenhoff scored from Jacob Myhre and Pierson Rohl to open the scoring before Brayden Brintnall scored an unassisted goal to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead.
Branch Otteson scored from Liam Heiberger, Spencer Lovseth scored an unassisted goal and Gavin Zweibahmer scored from Adrian Almhjeld to put Brookings up 5-0 at the first intermission.
Heiberger scored an unassisted goal before Gavin Zweibahmer scored a goal from scored a goal from Deacon Trumbo and Adrian Almhjeld to put Brookings up 7-0 and Spencer Lovseth and Jacob Myhre scored back-to-back unassisted goals to cap the scoring.
Porter Vanderbush made four saves. Brookings out-shot the Lakers 31-10.
SQUIRT BLUE
SIOUX CENTER The Rangers enjoyed a dominant weekend picking up wins over Brandon Valley, Yankton, Sioux Center and Huron.
Brookings 11, Brandon Valley 0
Avery Swisher scored six goals and Hunter Vincent had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Rangers over the Ice Cats. Maddox Chandler also scored a goal in the win for the Rangers.
Sarantis Theodosopoulos made two saves to earn the shutout. The Rangers out-shot Brandon Valley 23-2.
Brookings 19, Yankton 1
Swisher scored 11 goals and had two assists in the win while Vincent scored four goals and added two assists.
Otto Haselhorst, Henry Dangel, Graham Itterman and Chandler aslo scored goals in the win. Nicholas Hanson had two assists while Dangel, Itterman, and Evan Rounds had one assist each for the Rangers.
Theodosopoulos had two saves while the Rangers out-shot the Miracle 48-3.
Brookings 11, Sioux Center 0
Vincent scored five goals and Swisher recorded a hat trick to lead the Rangers over Sioux Center on Sunday morning.
Hanson, Chandler and Rounds each had a goal for the Rangers while Rounds, Theodosopoulos and Xander Reeser each had assists in the win.
Dangel made three saves to earn the shutout. Brookings out-shot Sioux Center 39-3.
Brookings 22, Huron 0
Reeser scored five goals and Swisher scored four goals to lead the Rangers over Huron on Sunday afternoon.
Vincent and Hanson each had a hat trick in the win while Itterman scored twice and Haselhorst, Liam Nelson and Bradley Cox each had a goal.
Swisher had three assists and Chandler had two assists while Nelson, Chandler, Theodosopoulos and Cox had one assist each.
Dangel made two saves to earn the shutout. Brookings out-shot Huron 51-2.
SQUIRT RED
MITCHELL The Rangers split four games over the weekend, picking up wins over Watertown and Yankton at the Toshiba Arena.
Brookings 3, Watertown 0
Joey Francisco scored twice and Knox Frericks added a goal to lead the Rangers over the Lakers on Saturday morning.
Nash Billings made four saves to earn the shutout. The Rangers out-shot the Lakers 21-4.
Oahe 8, Brookings 3
Francisco scored twice and Frericks scored once in a loss to the Capitals on Saturday afternoon.
Billings made 28 saves for the Rangers. Brookings was out-shot by Oahe 36-12.
Brookings 10, Yankton 0
Frericks scored five goals and Francisco scored four goals to lead the Rangers to a shutout victory over the Miracle on Sunday morning. Talon Hatten also had an assist in the win.
Billings made nine saves for the Rangers. Brookings out-shot Yankton 27-9.
Aberdeen 5, Brookings 1
Francisco scored the lone goal in the loss to the Cougars on Sunday afternoon. Billings made 28 saves while Brookings was out-shot 33-9.
SQUIRT A
RAPID CITY The Rangers picked up four road wins last weekend as they traveled to the Thunderdome to take on Rushmore, Oahe, Watertown and Yankton.

Kaden Ziegeldorf scored twice and Max Harris added a pair of assists to lead the Rangers over the Thunder on Saturday afternoon.
Elliott Ahmann had a goal and an assist while Sutton Jensen, Cooper Hyde and Ryker Schumacher each had a goal.
Juke Anderson started in goal and made five saves for the Rangers.
Brookings 19, Oahe 1
Theo Treml scored four goals and Hyde recorded a hat trick with three assists to lead the Rangers over the Capitals on Saturday afternoon.
Harris had two goals and an assist while Jensen and Schumacher each had two goals and an assist.
Anderson and Hendrix Schmeichel each had a goal and two assists while Ziegeldorf scored twice and Callen Fogelson added two assists.
Finn Konechne, Colton Hendricks each scored a goal and Ahmann added an assist in the win.
Brodie Bahe made two saves in the win while Brookings out-shot Oahe 42-3.
Brookings 15, Watertown 0
Hyde recorded a hat trick and Anderson had two goals and an assist to defeat the Lakers on Sunday morning.
Anderson had two goals and two assists while Schumacher had two goals and an assist.
Ahmann, Treml and Hendricks had a goal and an assist each while Jensen, Schmeichel, Ziegeldorf and Konechne each had a goal.
Bahe made four saves and the Rangers out-shot the Lakers 62-4.
Brookings 7, Yankton 0
Hyde had a hat trick and three assists and Ziegeldorf had a goal and an assist to lead the Rangers over the Miracle on Sunday afternoon.
Bahe, Hendricks and Jensen each had a goal in the win while Ahmann had two assists. Fogelson, Schumacher and Treml each had one assist.
Anderson made three saves for the Rangers, who out-shot the Miracle, 26-3.
