Three area teams were represented in the latest South Dakota Prep Media basketball polls.
The Sioux Valley boys remained No. 4 in the Class A rankings as they had 26 points. The Cossacks are off to a 2-0 start as they beat Clark/Willow Lake 69-36 and Baltic 62-50. Sioux Valley will host Beresford on Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
Sioux Falls Christian is the top ranked team in Class A as the Chargers had 13 first place votes. Hamlin is No. 2 and Dakota Valley had the other first place vote and is ranked third. Pine Ridge moved into the top five as well.
Flandreau moved into the top five in the Class A girls poll. The Fliers improved to 4-0 and beat Arlington, who is ranked fifth in Class B, on Saturday in the Entringer Classic. Flandreau has wins over Chester, Hamllin and Beresford as well. The Fliers dont play again until Dec. 28 when they take on Dell Rapids on the road at 7 p.m.
Wagner is the top ranked team in the Class A girls poll with 12 first place votes. Sisseton and Tea Area each received a first place vote and were ranked second and third, respectively, Vermillion rounded out the top five.
Arlington is ranked fifth in Class B. The Cardinals are 5-1 after falling to Flandreau on Saturday. They have wins over Howard, Colman-Egan, Iroquois/Lake Preston,Castlewood and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland. Arlingtons next game is on Jan. 2 at Madison at 7:30 p.m.
Wall is the top ranked team in Class B as it had nine first place votes. Lyman and Centerville are tied for second as each team received two first place votes. Ethan is ranked fourth with one first place vote.
