ARLINGTON Arlington and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland split a basketball doubleheader on Monday night. Arlington won the girls game and ORR won the boys game.
Girls
Arlington 83, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 23
The Cardinals improved to 5-1 with the dominating win. They led 27-10 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Raiders 29-3 in the second quarter to take a 56-13 lead into halftime. Arlington extended the lead to 69-22 at the end of the third and then outscored ORR 14-1 in the final quarter.
The Cardinals shot 61.1% from the field and were 8-of-16 from three. Addalyn Steffensen led Arlington with 21 points. Harley Hognson had 15 points and eight assists. Isabelle Steffensen and Jaelyn Huntimer each had 11 points. Huntimer also had five rebounds and four assists.
ORR shot 19.5% from the field and was 3-of-12 from three. The Raiders were led by Julia Trygstad who had eight points and nine rebounds. Emily Watson had seven points.
Arlington won the rebound battle 34-25. ORR had 23 turnovers and the Cardinals had seven.
The Cardinals dont play again until Jan. 2 when they play at Madison at 7:30 p.m. The Raiders dropped to 1-4 on the season. They play again on Dec. 28 at home against Bridgewater-Emery at 6 p.m.
Boys
Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 62, Arlington 51
The Raiders picked up their first win of the season with the victory. The score was 10-10 at the end of the first quarter and then it was 29-29 at halftime. Arlington took a 45-43 lead into the fourth quarter but ORR was able to outscore the Cardinals 19-6 in the final quarter and won the game.
ORR shot 42.4% from the field and was 3-of-17 from three. The Raiders were 9-of-19 at the free throw line. They were led by Brayden Hanson who had 23 points and eight rebounds. Caden Jojer had 19 points and 19 rebounds.
Arlington shot 33.8% from the field and were 1-of-18 from three. The Cardinals were 4-of-13 at the free throw line. They were led by Blake Madsen who had 25 points and 17 rebounds. Miles Antonen had nine points and eight rebounds.
ORR had 45 rebounds and Arlington had 44. The Cardinals had 11 turnovers and the Raiders had 10. ORR had five steals and Arlington had six.
ORR is now 1-2 and Arlington dropped to 0-3. The two teams will play again at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 30 at the Entringer Classic in Brookings.
