HURON Luke Honkomp scored twice and added three assists as his five-point game helped the Brookings Rangers rout the Huron All-Stars 11-1 at the Bergman Ice Arena on Friday night.
Honkomps game was part of a big night for the Rangers, who had eight different players score a goal and nine players record multi-point games.
Honkomp scored the first goal of the game from Cody Jacobson and Talon Hyde at 7:35 of the first period and it opened the floodgates for the Rangers to score six times in the first period.
Jackson Heller added to the lead with an assist from Honkomp at 8:18 of the first period and Jay Harris scored from Ren Jacobsen to put the Rangers up 3-0 at 9:24 of the first period.
Jacob Kahle added a pair of goals from Hyde and Jacobson at 10:17 of the first period and from Owen Schneider and Harris at 16:59 of the first period and Honkomp scored his second goal of the game from Jacob Law and Tre Christopherson at 15:23 of the first period to give the Rangers a 6-0 lead.
Cooper Deatherage scored from Jacobsen at 4:28 of the second period and Heller scored from Law at 5:35 of the second period to put Brookings up 8-0.
Ethan Busch put Huron on the board with an assist from Ryder Casper at 5:35 of the second period before Schneider scored from Kahle and Hyde at 11:30 of the second period to give Brookings a 9-1 lead at the second intermission.
Hyde scored from Kahle and Honkomp at 8:15 of the third period and Riley Linstad scored from Honkomp at 9:49 of the third period to cap the scoring.
Egan Jensen started in goal for the Rangers and made nine saves to earn the win. Brookings outshot Huron 67-10 and did not have a power play. Huron went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
The Rangers are now 4-0 in the SDAHA this season will return to action when they travel to Watertown on Dec. 29.
