MADISON The Brookings girls wrestling team came in second as a team at the Madison Invitational on Saturday.
The Bobcats had 106 points as a team. Harrisburg won the tournament with 114 team points.
Joanna Steinlicht was the lone championship winner for the Bobcats. She pinned Harrisburgs Sammie Reil in five minutes in the 145-pound championship match.
Brookings had two second place finishers. Lilly Toft won a 3-2 decision over Madisons Capri Johnson in the 114 semifinals and then was pinned by Harrisburgs Hadley Bryant in 1:24 in the championship. Maizy Mathis pinned Rapid City Stevens in 1:01 in the semifinals of 165 and then was pinned by Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda in 42 seconds of the championship match.
Cierra Strand came in third as she won a 2-1 decision over Strugis Browns Brooklyn Brant in the 132-pound third place match. Claire Milliron came in fourth place in the 100-pound weight class. She pinned Sioux Falls OGorman in 4:36 in the consolation semifinals before getting pinned by Tiopsa Zingas Reegan Cook in 1:20.
Sioux Valley
The Cossacks came in ninth place as a team with 48 points. Summer Guthmiller came in second place in the 138-pound weight class. She pinnedSturgis Browns Madison Snyder in 3:43 before being pinned by Bon Homme/Scotland/Avons Peyton Hellmann in 4:24.
Trinity Kurtenbach and Skyler Virhow each came in fourth place. Kurtenbach pinned Canistotas Alyvia Hjermstad in 53 seconds in the 107 consolation semifinals and then was pinned by West West Centrals Kyleigh Schuller in 1:33 in the third place match. Virhow pinned Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakondas Wendi Silverthorn in 3:51 in the 126 consolation semifinals before getting pinned by Bon Homme/Scotland/Avons Hadlee Kracht in 48 seconds in the third place match.
Flandreau
The Fliers had one girl participate and Julie Pitsenberger came in fifth place in the 138-pound weight class. She pinned Hurons Say Glay in 1:49 in the fifth place match.
