BROOKINGS The Delta Dental Mobile Program visited Brookings County four times this year and provided preventative, restorative, and diagnostic dental care to children 21 and younger who did not have access to a dentist. A total of 159 children were seen, and $136,014 in care was completed.
We are so thankful for our partnership with Delta Dental of South Dakota. For this year, Brookings Area United Way leveraged $12,000 to provide much-needed care to our community. Of the children who visited the Delta Dental Mobile Program, 24 had never seen a dentist before, and 33 had indicated pain. We had children of all ages visit the dental van and receive proper care, said Heidi Gullickson, the executive director of Brookings Area United Way.
The Delta Dental Mobile Program visited the community four times in 2023. While visiting, 352 restorative procedures (cavity fillings, crowns, and extractions), 869 preventive measures (cleanings, sealants, and fluoride), and 373 diagnostic procedures (exams and X-rays) were completed.
The Brookings Area United Way partners with the Delta Dental Mobile Program through funding, marketing efforts, and coordinating dental appointments.
