Two area basketball teams picked remained undefeated on Monday night. The Arlington girls picked up a victory over Iroquois/Lake Preston and Colman-Egan beat Flandreau Indian.
Girls
Arlington 52, Iroquois/Lake Preston 47
ARLINGTON The Cardinals improved to 3-0 on the season as they held off the Sharks.
Arlington led 19-13 at the end of the first quarter and then took a 30-22 lead into halftime. The Cardinals extended their lead to 42-23 at the end of the third. The Sharks outscored the Cardinals 14-10 in the fourth but that wasnt enough and Arlington remained undefeated.
The Cardinals shot 24.1% from the field and were 5-of-27 from three. They did a lot of damage at the free throw line as they were 19-of-31 at the line.
Arlington was led by Jolyssa Steffensen who had 16 points, 10 steals and seven rebounds. Addalyn Steffensen had 11 points and three steals. Jaelyn Huntimer had 10 points and six rebounds and Isabelle Steffensen had nine points.
The Sharks shot 48.7% from the field and were 3-of-9 from three. Turnovers are what did them in as ILP turned it over 33 times on the night.
Adison Moore led ILP with 21 points, six rebounds and five assists. Hadlee Holt had 13 points and 16 rebounds. Faith Steffensen had 12 rebounds and three points.
Arlington plays at Castlewood at 6 p.m. on Thursday. ILP fell to 1-1 on the season and plays Elkton-Lake Benton in Lake Benton on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
Boys
Colman-Egan 85, Flandreau Indian 46
COLMAN The Hawks moved to 2-0 with the win over the Indians. They led 27-11 at the end of the first quarter and took a 54-32 lead into the locker room. CE would extend the lead to 64-38 at the end of the third and cruised to the victory.
CE shot 59.1% from the field and was 3-of-12 from three. The Hawks were led by Jack Mousel who had 26 points and six rebounds. Jackson Zwart had 15 points, six assists and four rebounds. Jase Mousel had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. Carson Voelker had eight points and eight assists.
The Indians shot 30.2% from the field and were 3-of-12 from three. They were led by Elijah Chief Eagle who had 16 points. Genio White Hawk had 12 points. Ryan Papakee had nine points.
Colman-Egan hosts Dell Rapids St. Mary on Friday at 7:!5 p.m.
