Freeman teen dies in accident

HUTCHINSON COUNTY A 17-year-old Freeman female died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Hutchinson County.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2006 Pontiac G6 GT driven by Megan Ann Rollag was traveling westbound on 273rd Street nearU.S. Highway 81, which transitions from pavement to gravel, whenshe lost control of the vehicle and rolled, coming to rest on the north side of the roadway.

Rollag was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounceddead at the scene.

Names released in fatal crash

DAVISON COUNTY A 63-year-old Mitchell man has been identified as the person who died Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash one mile south of Mitchell on state Highway 37.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2010 Ford Fusion driven by Harlan Dale Miller, 63, of Mitchell was stopped or nearly stopped in the southbound lane on Highway 37 near milepost 71. A white 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Todd Michael Hohn, 57, of Mitchell was southbound at the same location. The two vehicles collided in the southbound lane, with the Ford Fusion coming to a rest in the west ditch and the Chevrolet Silverado coming to rest in the east ditch.

Miller was pronounceddead at the scene of the crash. His passenger, Kenneth Leroy Miller, 72, received non-life-threatening injuries and wastaken toa hospital. Seat belt use is under investigation for Miller. Hohn was not injured in the crash.

Highway over Oahe to be closed

PIERRE, Beginning Dec. 13,state Highway 204 (across the Oahe Dam) will be closed betweenstate Highway 1806 in Stanley County andstate Highway 1804 in Hughes County to allow the COE to conduct a required field inspection.

The highway closure is anticipated to be reopened Dec. 14. If inclement weather is encountered or issues arise, the closure may remain in place through Dec. 16. During the closure of Highway 204, commuters will need to utilize alternative routes.
