Daughters of the American Revolution helping to improve Greenwood Cemetery

On Dec. 1, members of the Medary Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met with members of the Greenwood Cemetery Association at Allegra to submit the order for new block location signs at Greenwood Cemetery.

Allegra will have the signs made up by next spring when holes for the posts can be dug into the ground. For many years, the DAR Medary Chapter has been going out to the cemetery to decorate and clean the graves of their past members, and experienced the need for signs to define the block areas. With the help of Volunteer Cemetery Historian Sherilyn Bosch, the Greenwood Cemetery Association was able to determine the number and the design of the signs needed, and the DAR Medary Chapter provided the funds. The reward of this joint effort will be for members of the Brookings community to find the graves of their loved ones more easily.
