VOLGA The Sioux Valley wrestling team picked up a 30-29 win over Howard during their first home quad of the season at the Cossack Center on Tuesday night.
The Cossacks also hosted two other duals at the quad, falling to Marion/Freeman 42-21 and Tri-Valley 66-3.
Sioux Valley will return to action when it travels to Garretson for a quad with the Blue Dragons, Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney and Parker on Thursday night.
Sioux Valley 30, Howard 29
The matchup between the Cossacks and Titans featured two matches as Tate Miller defeated Wyatt Hardt by a 17-0 technical fall at 157 pounds and Owen Vandeweerd pinned Thomas Halverson at 0:37 at 285 pounds.
Marion/Freeman 42, Sioux Valley 21
Tate Steffensen defeated Keaton Prehiem by a 7-4 decision at 132 pounds but Axle Schultz pinned Dubhlainn Vermeulen at 1:45 of a 138-pound match.
Alaric Knittel defeated Tyson Norgaard by pin at 0:34 in a 144 pound match but Hardt defeated Brodee Snyders at 5:38 of a 165 pound match and Vandeweerd defeated Ricky Salis by fall at 2:26 of a 285 pound match.
Tri-Valley 66, Sioux Valley 3
Vandeweerd picked up the lone win for the Cossacks, winning a 1-0 decision over Luke Nehlich at 285 pounds.
Steffensen lost by a 5-2 decision to Cole Hendrixson at 132 pounds. Vermeulen was pinned by Treyson Richter at 25 seconds at 138 pounds. Tyson Norgaard lost a 9-4 decision to Marcus Oberg at 144 pounds. Hardt was pinned by Brody Dybvig at 2:55 in a 157 pound match and Jesus Mendoza pinned Harvey Hardt at 175 pounds.
