ARLINGTON The Arlington girls basketball team won its season opener on Tuesday night as the Cardinals beat Howard 63-41.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 17-10 lead in the first quarter. They then outscored the Tigers 16-7 in the second quarter and led 33-17 at halftime. Arlington picked up where it left off in the third, out scoring Howard 17-13 and then closed things off with an 11-9 advantage in the fourth.
Addalyn Steffensen had 19 points and six rebounds. Jolyssa Steffensen had 14 points and five rebounds. Jaelyn Huntimer had 13 points and five assists and Harley Johnson had 11 points.
Howard was led by Abby Aslesen who had 19 points and 12 rebounds. Elizabeth Albrecht had nine points.
Arlington hosts Colman-Egan on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
