WATERTOWN The Brookings Rangers picked up their second win of the season as Rorii Quam made 15 saves in a 1-0 win over the Watertown Lakers at the Maas Ice Arena on Saturday night.
The Rangers dominated throughout the first period by out-shooting the Lakers 18-2 but were unable to get the puck past Watertown goalie Kira Reppe. Reppe made 35 saves on the night and helped Watertown stay in the game through a scoreless second period but Brookings found its opportunity when Rylie Redlin was called for tripping at 5:33 in the third period.
The Rangers capitalized a minute into the man-advantage when Julissa Peterson scored from Kinzey Gerndler and Miyah Foerster for the game-winning goal at 6:45 of the third period.
Brookings out-shot Watertown 36-15 in the game and went 1-for-1 on the power play. Watertown failed to capitalize on its lone power play chance when Graciana Peterson was called for tripping at 12:10 of the second period.
The Rangers improved to 2-1-0 with the win and will travel to Oahe to face the Capitals on Saturday afternoon before hosting Sioux Center at the Larson Ice Center in Brookings on Sunday.
