SIOUX FALLS The Brookings Rangers girls varsity team is off to a 1-1 start after beating Sioux Center on Nov. 18 and then falling to Sioux Falls on Nov. 25.

The Rangers trailed 3-2 heading into the third but then outscored the Storm 3-1 in the final period to secure the win in their first game of the season.
Sioux Center got the scoring going as the Storm took a 1-0 lead a little under four minutes into the game. The Rangers would then tie the game up with under five minutes left in the period as Kinzey Grendler scored a goal assisted by Miyah Foerster. Sawyer Triplett then gave Brookings the lead with a goal a little over a minute later and the Rangers took a 2-1 lead heading into the second.
The Storm would then score two goals in the second period to regain the lead. The first one came with 6:50 left in the period and Sioux Center took the lead with just under four minutes left in the second.
Grendler would complete a hat-trick early in the third period to give the Rangers the lead as she scored two goals in the first 2:34 of the period. The first one was unassisted and the second one was assisted by Brynnlea Peterson.
The Storm wouldnt go away though as they tied things up just one minute and 21 seconds later. It wouldnt be until there was just under four minutes left that the game-winnning goal would be scored. Triplett took a pass from Anna Rasmussen and put it in the back up the net to give the Rangers the win.
Brookings outshout Sioux Center 39-18. Rori Quam was in net for the Rangers and she had 14 saves.

Sioux Falls 6, Brookings 0
The Flyers scored twice in each period during the victory beginning with Rylan Peskas goal from Scarlett Black and Lilyana Knutson at 10:16 of the first period. Sioux Falls doubled its lead on Aniston Murrays goal from Peska at 13:21 of the first period and took a 3-0 lead on Callie Pedersons goal from Halle Watson and Murray at 4:24 of the second period.
Murray scored her second goal of the game from Emma Horner at 9:02 of the second period and Juliana Chan scored twice in the third period with an unassisted goal at 1:10 and a goal from Watson and Murray at 12:48.
Quam started at goalie for Brookings and made 27 saves for the Rangers. The Rangers did not attempt a power play during the game while Sioux Falls went 0-2 and the Flyers out-shot the Rangers 33-9.
The Rangers are now 1-1 on the season and will travel to Watertown on Saturday night.
