High school wrestling: Four Cossacks win during first quadrangular of season

PARKER Four Sioux Valley wrestlers picked up wins as the Cossacks competed in their quadrangular of the season on Tuesday night.

Tate Steffensen won three of his matches at 132 pounds as he defeated Beresford/Alcester-Hudsons Evan Dresser by fall in 59 seconds, Cantons Chase Adam by fall and Colten Preheim by fall in 48 seconds.

Sioux Valley also picked up three wins in their dual with Beresford/Alcester-Hudson. Dubhlainn Vermeulen defeated Kasen Voss at 144 pounds by fall in 3:09, Wyatt Hardt defeated Isaac Boden by a 16-2 major decision at 157 pounds and Owen Vandeweerd defeated Connor Neumayr at heavyweight by fall in 2:00.

The Cossacks lost all three duals on Tuesday night, falling to Beresford/Alcester-Hudson 60-22. Canton 78-6 and Parker 66-6.

The Cossacks will return to action during the Flandreau Booster Invitational on Saturday morning.
