Hockey: Aberdeen Wings sign Brookings native Jacob Peterson

ABERDEEN The Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League announced the signing of Brookingsnative Jacob Peterson on Tuesday.

Peterson currently plays for the Sioux Falls Power 18U AAA team. He has 20 goals and 15 assists in 29 games this season.

The past two seasons he played for Northstar Christian Academy 16U AAA team out of Alexandria, Minnesota.

In anews release from the Wings on Tuesday, Aberdeen assistant coach Eric Hirschhaut had a comment about the signing.

Really excited to announce to the signing of Jacob Peterson to a tender for next season, Hirrschhaut said. Jacob is a left shot forward that plays big and can produce offensively. Hes currently leading the Sioux Falls Power team with 20 goals in 29 games and second on the team with 35 points.

Jacob has had the opportunity to come skate with us and see what goes on daily here in Aberdeen. Jacob also has ties to Aberdeen being close to his hometown of Brookings and knowing our billet coordinator Amanda Holland and her family. He is a great kid that works hard and has a lot of potential to be impact player for us next season. Really excited to add Jacob to our group of tenders for next year.

Peterson also commented in the release.
