Women’s college basketball: Brooklyn Meyer named Summit League Performer of the Week

SIOUX FALLS South Dakota States Brooklyn Meyer has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Womens Basketball Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced Monday. This is the first weekly honor of Meyers career.

Meyer, a sophomore, averaged 24.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Jackrabbits. She opened her week by registering her third straight double-double – this one coming against top-ranked South Carolina. The Larchwood, Iowa native scored a career-high 19 points to go with 10 rebounds. She also added two steals and an assist against the Gamecocks.

In the Jackrabbits return home, Meyer established another career-high in scoring as she poured in a game-high 29 points in a 72-42 rout of South Carolina State. Meyer went 11-for-15 from the field and 7-for-8 from the foul stripe en route to the first 20-plus point game of her career. Meyer added nine rebounds, two assists and a steal against the Lady Bulldogs.
