Fifteenarea football players were selected to the South Dakota Football Coaches Association 2023 All-State teams.
The players were selected to the teams based on votes of the coaches in their respective classes. Each class also included one All-American advanced by the SDFBCA to be recognized nationally by the National High School Coaches Association.
Class 11AA
Brookings Bergan Tetzlaff was an honorable mention in Class AA. The sophomore linebacker and tight end started on both sides of the ball and was a team captain. On defense he had 70 tackles, two tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception.
Class 11B
Sioux Valley had three selections to the All-State team. Senior Boden Schiller was the quarterback for Class B. He helped the Cossacks go 9-1 on the season and had 957 yards rushing and ran for 18 touchdowns. He also threw for eight touchdowns.
Junior running back Donovan Rose was selected to the All-State team. He ran for 969 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. Senior tight end Hudsyn Ruesink was also an All-State selection.
Class 9AA
Elkton-Lake Benton had three players honored after finishing the season 8-2. Senior tight end Carson Griffith was All-State after having 32 catches for 491 yards and three touchdowns. Senior linebacker Blake De Vries was also selected. He had 79.5 tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery in 2023. Junior wide receiver Tanner Stein was an honorable mention. He had 23 catches for 375 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown.
Class 9A
Deubrook Area had five All-State selections after the Dolphins went 9-3 and were the Class 9A Runner-Up. Gavin Landmark was a running back selection. The senior ran for 1,390 yards and 27 touchdowns on 161 carries. He also had 104 yards and one touchdown receiving. Senior J.P. Rogness was a special teams selection. He had a total of 724 return yards on the season and had three kick returns and three punt returns for touchdowns.
Senior Jake Jorenby made it as a defensive back. He had 44 tackles, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown. Senior linebacker Devon Landmark and senior offensive lineman Dylan Rios were also selections.
Estelline/Hendricks had three players that were honored. Senior Mattix Hausman was a defensive back All-State selection. He had 17 tackles and six interceptions. Camden Miller and Wyat James were All-American selections. Miller, a senior tight end, fullback and defensive end, had 63 tackles, four sacks and a fumble recovery. James, a junior wide receiver, tight end and safety, had 37 tackles, seven interceptions and two fumble recoveries. He had 20 catches for 273 yards and three touchdowns.
