BROOKINGS Brookings Area United Way is participating in this years Day of Giving.
Sanderson Gardens has offered a one-for-one match this year, meaning that for every dollar one person donates, Sanderson Gardens will donate one as well.
Brookings Area United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every Brookings County resident. One way BAUW accomplishes this mission is by helping fiscally support 38 other local nonprofits that focus on different impact points like housing, food security, mental health, mentoring, education, health, and more. These nonprofits also receive marketing, supplies, and more from Brookings Area United Way.
Another way Brookings Area United Way achieves its mission is through their internal programs and collaborations.
Their internal programs include Dolly Partons Imagination Library, which currently serving 1,040 youth; the Delta Dental Mobile Program, which provided more than $135,000 of free dental care to 159 children in 2023; SingleCare, which offers prescription support; the Born Learning Trails including a new one in Volga; and their mental health initiative that has trained nearly 300 people in various mental health and Adverse Childhood Experiences trainings. BAUW also participates in the Resilient Community initiative, Brookings Council of Nonprofits, Early Learners of South Dakota, Social NET Works, Brookings Early Care and Education Collaborative, and the Brookings County Mental Health Coalition.

The public is welcome to stop by their office from 9 a.m.to 4p.m. for a tour of their new building.
