Elsie Hildebrandt, 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at United Retirement Center, Brookings.
Funeral services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Colman United Methodist Church in Colman. Burial is in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 – 7 p.m. at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service.
Elsie was born Nov. 3, 1922, at Vaylan in Hand County to Glen and Ada (Ranst) Bothwell. When she was 14, her family moved to Colman, where she graduated from Colman High School in 1941.
Elsie helped on the family farm following graduation.
On June 1, 1958, she married Robert P. Hildebrandt at Wellman Methodist Church in rural Colman.
Together they lived north of Colman and farmed for many years. Robert died Aug. 11, 1999. Elsie worked for nine years at Dakota Industries in Flandreau then at Bethel Lutheran Home for 14 years in Madison.
She was a lifetime member of Colman Methodist Church, where she served on many different committees, and was a member of the Extension Club for many years.
Elsie loved canning vegetables, cooking, gardening, her plants and being outdoors.
She is survived by two sons, Leslie Hildebrandt of Colman and Lyle Hildebrandt of Brookings; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three siblings, Lorraine Kohlmeyer, Farold Bothwell and Alton Bothwell; a sister-in-law, Delores Hildebrandt and a brother-in-law, Paul Hildebrandt.
