Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin was in Brookings Friday afternoon , to do her part to help promote community wind development in South Dakota. At the South Dakota State University Innovation Center, the congresswoman played host to USDA Undersecretary for Rural Development Dallas Tonsager (center) and Ken Peterson and Doug Maust (far right), CEO and COO for Harvest Wind LLC, a multi-generational wind energy development company based in Milbank. The group met with others at a roundtable discussion on the key role that 2008 Farm Bill programs and Recovery Act tax credits and grants can play in assisting a locally-owned and locally-based company in developing community-owned , renewable energy in South Dakota. They also discussed future opportunities for cooperation between Congress, USDA Rural Development and Harvest Wind to further promote community wind development.
