Bandits beat Renner, 11-3; earn postseason top seed

Rightfielder Garret Jeppesen flags down a fly ball for an out during the first inning of the Bandits’ 11-3 win over Renner on Wednesday night at Bob Shelden Field. The win, coupled with Aberdeen’s loss to Watertown, gives Brookings the top seed in the Region 1A Tournament that starts Tuesday in Watertown.

BROOKINGS – The Bandits did their part in grabbing the top seed in Region 1A postseason play as Post 74 defeated Renner, 11-3 on on Senior Night at Bob Shelden as Corey Roach went the full nine innings on the mound to earn the W.

Wednesday’s win, coupled with Aberdeen’s 12-inning 8-6 loss to Watertown sealed the top seed for Brookings.

Post 307 drew first blood against the Bandits as Chandler Schaefbauer opened the game with a leadoff single; advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt; moved to third on a wild pitch; and scored on Gabe Wieczorek’s sacrifice flyout to right field.
