BROOKINGS – The Arlington man who pleaded no contest to attacking a woman in a downtown Brookings bar late last year is headed to prison for five years.
Twenty-two-year-old Fernando Santiago-Eufraco was sentenced on Tuesday to 10 years in prison, with five of those years suspended, for one count of aggravated assault.
The charge stems from a Dec. 21 incident at the 9 Bar & Nightclub in Brookings. That’s where a 23-year-old Brookings woman was assaulted in the women’s restroom, at about 1:30 a.m.
The woman came to the bar after she got off work on Dec. 21. She was followed into the bathroom, and as she came out of a stall, Santiago-Eufraco hit her in the head with a beer bottle. For the complete article see the 03-28-2014 issue.
