Rough Rider trio proves to be too much for Bobcats

SIOUX FALLS – Confidence is a big key in sports. Sioux Falls Roosevelt played with plenty of it Monday night.

Nicole Hatcher (20), Tagyn Larson (16) and Paige Mriden (16) combined for 52 points as the Rough Riders beat the Bobcats, 62-43, in a District 1AA girls’ basketball semifinal.

“I think our preparation was good; I think our game plan was good. Sometimes as coaches we have a tough time controlling the mental part of it – the toughness part and the confidence part,” said Brookings head coach Lynn Frederick. “It’s partly them being good players and playing with a lot of confidence, and with some swag. And it’s partly us not being attentive or disciplined enough in our approach with certain things. So you’ve got to give them credit, too.
