Leslie James Schrecengost, 81, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Fridayat Skroch Funeral Chapel. Burial is in Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Les married Ruby Kough on March 3, 1951, at Dayton, Pa. In 1953 he joined the Army and after his discharge they farmed in Dayton County Pennsylvania.
Les and Ruby moved to South Dakota in 1960, where they farmed in near Garretson; in 1963 they moved to a farm east of Baltic and in 1965 to a farm near Trent. In 1976 they moved to Spring Creek Township north of Flandreau where Les has continued to farm. Les drove school bus for several years, starting at Fuller Buses, and later he retired from Harlow Bus Company. Les also showed Hereford hogs for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife Ruby; two children, Cindy (Jim) Meisenheimer of Elkton and Marlin (Deb) Schrecengost of Flandreau; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Peterman of Louisville, Ohio, Donna (Paul) Boldt of Canton, Ohio, and Gail VanHorn of Dayton, Pa., and one brother, Larry (Sharon) Schrecengost of Jacksonville, Fla..
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
