Christie Heights gets city council approval

Posted: Friday, Oct 25th, 2013

Brookings City Council gave its approval to the preliminary plat for a 47-home development in the Christie Heights Addition, which lies next to the site of a proposed elementary school. The 26-acre development is just south of Moriarty Heights and is bordered by 26th Street South and Western Avenue. The council did not act on a plan for the Christie Springs Addition, to the northwest of Christie Heights.

BROOKINGS – As expected, the Brookings council this week gave its “seal of approval” to plans for a new residential development in the city’s Christie Heights subdivision in southwest Brookings.

But the councilors took no action on a more controversial companion project – the preliminary plans for Christie Springs – because the item was removed from the Tuesday agenda at the request of the developer.

The council was to have acted on preliminary plats for both additions. The group gave unanimous approval to plans for Christie Heights, a 26-acre property immediately south of Moriarty Heights.
