Dirt work has been under way for some time now, but construction of the Agriculture Technology Center for Rural Enterprise got its ceremonial kickoff on Thursday afternoon.
Thatís when local and state business leaders came together to break ground for the 30,000-square-foot, $2 million project on 32nd Avenue.
The Ag Tech Center is only the latest in a long line of technology investments designed to support research commercialization in Brookings, said Brookings Economic Development Center Director Al Heuton. The facility will help entrepreneurs ramp up their efforts so they can take their products to customers.
Construction should be complete by June 1, 2014, and at that time the buildingís first tenant, Prairie AquaTech, will be ready to move in.
