BROOKINGS – When Darrell Deneke was a student at South Dakota State University in the late 1970s, he had his hair cut by Harry Bruns.

Last Thursday, Harry cut Darrell's hair for the last time in the OK Barber Shop in downtown Brookings. It closed on Saturday.

Bruns, 74, a native of Fulda, Minn., had been barbering since 1967. But he'd been retired since late fall 2005, when he sold the shop to Art Shelton. However, Bruns continued to work there occasionally on a part-time basis. Now he's finally put aside his clippers for good after pursuing for so many years the work he liked, after finding it so many years ago.
