Eleanor ‘Ellie’ Eggebraaten - Rutland: Dec. 1, 1950 – Oct. 3, 2013

Eleanor “Ellie” Eggebraaten, 62, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Madison.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda with the Rev. Paul Johansen officiating. Burial is in Lake Park Cemetery in Rutland. Visitation begins at noon Sunday with the family present 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Ellsworth Funeral Home. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church.

Eleanor Wagner was born Dec. 1, 1950, at Howard, to John and Agnes (Roth) Wagner. She attended school at Epiphany, Canova and Howard. She graduated from Howard High School in 1969 and attended Dakota State College in Madison. Ellie married Doug Eggebraaten on April 7, 1972, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rutland. She was postmaster at Rutland, a member of the Rutland School Board, and was known as the “Pheasant Lady” by many. Ellie was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Rutland and Grace Lutheran Church, Nunda.

Survivors include her husband Doug of Rutland; a son, Tim (Kim) Eggebraaten of Sioux Falls; a daughter, Lisa (Mark) DeGroot of Brookings; six grandchildren; four brothers, Barney (Connie) Wagner of Wickenburg, Ariz., Robert (Mary Ellen) Wagner of Ft. Pierre, John (Linda) Wagner of Wentworth and Richard (Marsha) Wagner of Dimock; and three sisters, Patty Winker of Howard, Janice (John) Johnson of Madison and Marie Duncan of Sioux Falls.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Wagner; and a sister, Mary Ann Wagner.
