Austreim Excavating was making quick work of the demolition of the Fire Auxiliary Building on Third Street on Tuesday afternoon.
The training and meeting center has been replaced with the recent expansion at the Sixth Street/20th Avenue fire station, as the older building was deteriorating and had been slated for teardown.
The soon-to-be-cleared Third Street property will be used to expand downtown parking. Demolition work continued at the site today.
The Brookings City Council last month awarded low-bidder Austreim Excavating the teardown project at a cost of $13,480.
