-- Noem uncertain on tying defunding Obamacare to continuing budget resolution

BROOKINGS – U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem says she doesn’t know if she’d support a measure to defund Obamacare if it’s attached to a continuing budget resolution and could lead to a government shutdown.

“That’s what everybody’s trying to figure out, if there’s the political will out there to tie those two together and not be willing to sign on and vote for a (continuing budget resolution) until the president defunds Obamacare.”

Noem addressed the topic at a Wednesday town hall meeting held at the Brookings City & County Government Center and sponsored by the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee.

The congresswoman fielded questions from a crowded room of more than 60 area residents.

“I don’t believe this president will defund Obamacare. I think that we would get to a situation where the government could potentially shut down, and I want everybody to really realize what the consequences of that are."
