Volga chooses up-and-comer

BROOKINGS Dont let his boyish good looks fool you: Andrew Bremseth knows a thing or two about running a city.

Hed better. There are about 1,800 people counting on him for water and power and plowed streets.

At 24 years of age, Bremseth may still look like a college kid which he was until his graduation in May but hes already on the job as the new city administrator in Volga.

Probably the youngest chief executive of any municipality in South Dakota, he hit the ground running just two weeks ago.

The former SDSU political science major isnt shy about tackling the age issue:

Ive had a ton of people or so Ive heard through the grapevine question why Volga would want to hire a 24-year-old. Why would a 24-year-old deserve that kind of position or leadership role?
