Vernon “Vern” Drew Seefeldt, 50, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Avera St. Mary's TCU.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, concluding with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Vern was born Feb. 11, 1963, in Huron to Roger and Sandra Seefeldt. Vern spent his youth in South Dakota and throughout the East Coast. He graduated from Clark High School in 1981.
He joined the National Guard after high school and served for 14 years. Vern was a hard worker who put many hours into his various positions.
He served in many roles through the years starting with working for his father at the cement plant in Clark, then the hospital in Brookings, Falcon Plastics in Brookings, Century Manufacturing in Pierre, then the State of South Dakota's Bureau of Information Technologies and the Department of Tourism. He also worked part-time for Walmart in the later years.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed a good game of poker, watching the Philadelphia Eagles, bowling, throwing darts and watching NASCAR. He was dedicated to his family and was always looking out for their interests.
He is survived by his father, Roger Seefeldt; a brother, David Seefeldt; a sister, Cheryl Seefeldt; three nephews; a niece and great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Seefeldt and grandparents, Vernon and Elsie Seefeldt and Samuel and Gladys Holmes.
