BROOKINGS – CenturyLink customers in South Dakota who have been without long-distance phone service since Saturday can again place calls.
Company representative Carrie Amann says the final repairs were made and service was restored to customers here late Tuesday night.
Service was interrupted when a fiber optic cable used by CenturyLink was washed out during flooding in Rice County, Minn.
Many commercial and residential customers in Brookings, including those using South Dakota State University campus lines, had been unable to make long-distance calls since Saturday morning. Those who tried got nothing but a busy signal on the other end.
Local calls could still be made.
The outage was widespread throughout South Dakota, but Amann could not report how many customers were affected.
If you are a CenturyLink customer and still have an issue to report, they ask that you call 1-800-573-1311.For the complete article see the 07-17-2013 issue.
