What to expect for Arts Festival traffic

Crossing Sixth Street easy for festival guests, unless it rains

BROOKINGS Set-up continues Friday in and around Pioneer Park for the 42nd annual Brookings Summer Arts Festival.

And despite the beautiful morning, road crews had taken a day of rest from their Sixth Street construction project, handing the area over to artists, food vendors, entertainers and the rest of the festival crowd.

In fact, where the sounds of bulldozers and backhoes recently jarred the morning air, just a few hammers filled in Friday as someone in the neighborhood was putting in new windows.

And the road that just three days ago was left flooded and damaged by heavy rainfall has been smoothed out and made much more passable for pedestrians.
