BROOKINGS – The first council session in July will have a brief agenda, but two scheduled public hearings likely will mean big changes for two community organizations.
And one of the more interesting topics of the evening won’t be an action item at all, but an end-of-meeting discussion on the future of the Sixth Street-22nd Avenue intersection.
Two of the key items on Tuesday’s meeting schedule will see the council voting on conditional use permits so that the Boys & Girls Club of Brookings can purchase Peace Lutheran Church for use as a teen center, and Peace Lutheran can purchase the now-vacant Shamrock events center for repurposing as a church and early childhood center.
