YANKTON – The Brookings 12U All-Stars went 2-0 in pool play before falling in the semifinals of the Yankton Twins Invitational on Saturday.
• Pool play: Brookings 12, Humboldt-Hartford 7
Trailing 5-2, Brookings sent 12 batters to the plate in the top of the third and scored eight runs en route to the victory.
Jacob Schoon had two hits and three RBIs to lead Brookings. Sean Sullivan and Justin Devine both had a double. Justin Puppe and Tyler Kreutner added two RBIs apiece. Schoon, Parker Beers, Trevor Berreth and Justin Devine each scored twice. Ryan Treiber threw three innings, allowing seven runs on six hits to earn the win. Justin Puppe tossed two innings in relief to pick up the save.
