Big Sioux to crest Saturday

• Some township roads still temporarily closed

BROOKINGS – While Six-Mile Creek has already begun to recede after last weekend’s storms, the Big Sioux River has continued to swell.

County Development Director Bob Hill, whose department oversees drainage, emergency management and planning and zoning, said this morning that Eureka, Oakwood, Sterling, Brookings, Volga and Medary Townships all have roads partially under water right now.

“All of our county roads are up, good to go, but the township roads are not,” Hill said.
