BROOKINGS – When you have a pole for catching, a net for securing and a bucket for keeping, it can be hard to throw that beautiful trout back into the pond – even when you’re 5.

But at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota’s new Fishing Pond exhibit, that’s just what kids will learn to do.

“They get their buckets so full and they just want to keep catching them. ‘Don’t forget to release your fish, so other kids can catch them!’” Olivia Isenberg, director of exhibits, remembers saying often during a practice run for the pond.

Beginning today the museum welcomes guests to experience the fishing pond, its first new, permanent exhibit since the museum opened in September 2010.
