Ralph E. Kasdorf, 87, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m., Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Estelline. Visitation is one hour preceding services at the church.
Ralph E. Kasdorf was born on Oct. 18, 1925, in Egan, the son of Arthur and Emma (Platts) Kasdorf.
Ralph lived in the state of Washington for about 22 years before moving back to South Dakota. He was employed as a Green Thumb employee for 12 years for the City of Estelline Medical Facilities. He started with general outside maintenance at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center and the Estelline Community Hospital.
He also worked transporting food carts with patient meals.
After the closing of the hospital, he took on indoor custodial work as well, at the same building now housing the Estelline Medical Facilities. Ralph was a member of the United Church of Christ in Estelline. He especially enjoyed working with old iron.
He is survived by two brothers, Floyd (Cora) Kasdorf of Bruce, John Jack (Bev) Kasdorf of Watertown; nine sisters, Marian Sween of Estelline, Maxine Friskey of Estelline, Vera Sween of Gary, Eleanor Alderman of Volga, Mary (James) Leibfried of Manitoba, Canada, Joyce (Milton) Flisrand of Arlington, Bonnie Begalka of Brookings, Ruth (Gayle) Rasmussen of Ivanhoe, Minn., Bertha (Jim) Higgins of Kittitas, Wash.; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Kenneth and Fred, and a sister. Frances.
