Frances C. Larson, 87, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Brookings Health System.
Burial is at the Elkton Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Brookings.
Frances C. Miller was born on Feb. 16, 1926, in Arco, Minn., the daughter of Carl and Gertie (Olson) Miller.
Frances received her education in rural schools near Marshall, Minn., Elkton and Brookings. She married Harvey O. Larson on July 1, 1943, in Elkton and together they farmed near Elkton until 1975. After retiring from farming, Harvey and Frances moved into Elkton. In 1986, they moved to Brookings.
Frances wallpapered, painted and performed housework for various families for over 35 years. She loved quilting, cooking and always had fresh cookies for anyone who stopped by to visit. She especially loved spending time with family and friends, her women's club activities and dancing. Frances also belonged to the United Church of Christ in Brookings and donated much of her time to helping the church and its members.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy (Dan) Carpenter of Le Mars, Iowa, Lois (Ray) Wacha of Wahpeton, N.D., and Wanda (Gene) Risch of South Haven, Minn.; two sons, Marlow (Linda) Larson of Victorville, Calif., and David Larson of Flandreau; a sister, Carol of Tacoma, Wash; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, sister, Geraldine, brother, Omer and daughter-in-law, Lynn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the United Church of Christ of Brookings.
