DICKINSON, N.D. – The Jackrabbits did what they needed to do at their regular-season finale in Dickinson, N.D., last weekend. The SDSU cowboys added 163.33 points to their Great Plains Region leading total and secured a spot in the College National Finals Rodeo to be held in Casper, Wyo., in June.
The Jacks finished with 6,173.33 points to easily outdistance runner-up Iowa Central Community College, which edged Dickinson, 4,378.33-4,365, for second place and the region’s final national berth.
The Jackrabbit cowgirls put up 310 points at Dickinson to keep the region’s second spot behind Black Hills State and lock in a CNFR berth.
The host Blue Hawks won the women’s rodeo with 520 points but still finished third in the region standings with 2,435 points, to finish behind the Yellow Jackets (4,214.99) and SDSU (2,808.33). IACC scored 345 points for third at the finale as the Tritons finished fourth in the final region standings with 2,383.32 points.
