• Arlington joins Horizons IV after LeadershipPlenty did great things 10 years ago

ARLINGTON – About 10 years ago, there was no Lake Arlington to greet residents and visitors as they drove into town. In fact, that area was a slough, said Randy Jencks, president of Arlington Economic Development Corporation – until the community jumped into a revitalization project called LeadershipPlenty.

Following an idea that came from that project, the city spent big money to dredge the slough, build a bridge out to the island at its center and generally turn it into a beautiful spot where families now go to fish, picnic and just enjoy the view.

“It’s just gorgeous in the springtime and the summer,” Jencks said. “That came out of that. And the community daycare building was a result of that.”
