BROOKINGS – Despite a slow onset of spring, it is nearly time once again to strap on binoculars, pack bird field guides, don weather-appropriate garb and footwear and join ornithologists for the 18th annual Bird Walk at Oak Lake Field Station.
The walk is from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 11, starting at Heege Administration Building at Oak Lake Field Station near Astoria. Ornithologists Nelda Holden, K.C. Jensen and Amy Lewis will serve as expert guides in an effort to exceed last year’s record of spotting 79 species of birds. Anyone with an interest in feathered fauna is welcome, but no pets please.
