• Pick-up start date now April 29
BROOKINGS – One more postponement for Brookings, thanks to another wintry gift from Mother Nature.
With boulevards still snow-filled and another snowstorm on the way, city officials announced Wednesday that the curbside pickup for the Brookings Spring Clean-up will be postponed to Monday, April 29.
This is the second time the citywide “Dump Day” has been pushed back. It was originally scheduled for April 15, then weather-delayed until the 22nd. Current weather forecasts calling for up to 6 more inches of snow in the Brookings area make it unlikely city yards will be cleared by this weekend – too hard for spring clean-up participants to navigate.
Now, all items must be out on the curb by Sunday, April 28. City crews will start collecting in Section 3 on Monday, April 29, and then move to Section 1.
