SPEARFISH – Even the recent spring snowstorm couldn’t slow down the Jackrabbits as the South Dakota State rodeo teams solidified their respective positions in the Great Plains region standings after their performances at this weekend’s Black Hills State Stampede.

The SDSU men, first in the region rankings with 3,230 points coming into the weekend, scored 550 points to extend their lead as second place Iowa Central Community College could only garner 380 points. Dickinson State, third in the standings, won the rodeo with 565 points as the host Yellow Jackets finished third with 465 points.

The Jackrabbit women, second in the region standings with 1,318.33 points coming into the weekend, solidified their spot with a 190-point effort to place second in the rodeo. Host Black Hills State increased its Great Plains lead as the Jacket women won the rodeo with 510 points. Iowa Central remains in third in the standings as the Tritons finished with 145 points, but fourth place Dickinson State picked up some ground with a 160-point effort.
