• Cage fighting review also on tap for Tuesday study session
BROOKINGS – Fire stations and mixed martial arts are both part of the mix for the Brookings City Council study session Tuesday.
The council gathering won’t begin at its usual location in downtown Brookings, however. This month’s program starts with a tour of the East Fire Station at 607 20th Ave., just west of McCrory Gardens.
Councilors will get a firsthand look at the city’s headquarters fire station, recently expanded with a 5,000-square-foot addition. Built at a cost of about $800,000, the addition houses the fire department’s new training center.
The actual study session gets under way at 6 p.m., back at the Brookings City & County Government Center.
