ABERDEEN – Normally when you look at the seeding for the Class B state tournament, it’s like rolling the dice. This season isn’t any different as White River comes into Thursday’s opening round at the Barnett Center on the campus of Northern State University as the top seed with a 22-1 record and the bottom seed is Langford Area with a 19-4 mark.
In between, there is an undefeated team: Potter County at 22-0 and seeded fourth; another one-loss squad: No. 3 Dupree sitting at 22-1; three teams with identical 21-2 records: No. 2 seed James Valley Christian, No. 5 South Central and No. 7 Viborg-Hurley; and the Arlington Cardinals who are 17-4 and seeded sixth.
The top-seeded Tigers of White River are making their eighth straight Class B Boys’ State Tournament appearance and going after their fourth title in six years. The only blemish on their record this season is an 83-61 setback to DeLaSalle (Minn.) in the Mike Miller Classic.
