BROOKINGS – Brookings Health System performed the first da Vinci robotic assisted gynecological and general surgeries last week in its operating room.
This winter, Brookings Health System became the third health care provider in the state to actively offer advanced robotic surgical technology.
For the past month, surgeons and operation room staff underwent intensive training to use the newly acquired da Vinci system for a range of minimally invasive procedures, including hysterectomy, gallbladder removal and hernia repair.
